Frequently Asked Questions
The reasons people choose to see a therapist vary. Therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of challenges. Some people need help getting through a specific life event. Others may want an unbiased perspective on a troubling issue. Regardless of your reason for choosing therapy, it can be an opportunity for you to grow, learn, and heal.
Clients have many different needs. Some of those include:
• Relationship difficulties (couples, families, work)
• Stress & Anxiety
• Anger
• Depression
• Life changes and transitions
• You bring in the issues that you want to discuss.
• The pace of the sessions is determined by your needs.
• You and your therapist will talk about your issues and options.
• Your therapist will offer insight and observations but not advice.
Many people think that therapy is a long and drawn out process. Very often that is not the case. There are many different approaches to therapy. The needs and goals of the client determine which approach would be most suitable. In some cases, clients achieve their goals in as few as two or three sessions. For other clients, it may take longer. This depends upon the client’s goal(s). During your first session, you will define your goals for therapy and together you and your therapist will work toward achieving your goals.
Trust your instincts. The therapist you choose must provide an atmosphere of safety and trust for you. If, after a few sessions, you don’t feel that you are making any progress, it is important to discuss this with the therapist. If you feel that a change of therapist would be best, the therapist should be supportive of that decision. A proper fit between you and your therapist is essential toward achievement of your goals.
I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I am not listed with any insurance companies. Payment is due at each session (cash, checks, MC and Visa are accepted). I will provide you with a receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company. It will be up to the discretion of your insurance company to decide whether or not they will reimburse you. Whatever choice you make, it’s important to note that private pay protects your privacy and allows you greater input in your therapy.
Yes. I also work with individuals.
I work primarily with adults but would be happy to recommend a therapist who does work with children.
