Maria Rafferty, Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas.Maria Rafferty, the owner of MTR Family Therapy, LLC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas. She received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University, and works with individuals, couples and family systems.

Her work includes helping individuals, couples, and families who are facing the challenges of parenting, changes within their family, midlife changes, and the stressors of life in general. As a TERRAP trained counselor, Maria works with clients who are experiencing anxiety and anxiety related disorders. She also counsels clients who seek more effective ways to manage and control their anger.

Maria has been married for over thirty years and understands the changes and challenges that take place within a marriage. She works with couples that are experiencing difficulties and are willing to work toward improving their relationships. Maria values the importance of family. She is an adoptee and the mother of four adult children, two of whom are also adopted, which gives her experience with the challenges faced by adoptive parents and adopted children alike.

She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society. In addition, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Florida and a Master of Business Administration from California Lutheran University.
